Open Scrapbook Night - Sept.2

This Friday Night (Sept. 2) I'll be at A.C. Moore at Bowie Town Center from 6 - 9pm  $5.00 to help you with your scrapbook projects.  Don't let another school year get underway with last years school pics not scrapped.  Bring those school portraits (that you never mailed) and all of their memorabilia and I'll help you get it DONE.

Here's the project we'll be doing at A.C. Moore on Saturday, October 1st...I've got a lot of interest in this class so sign up early.  You can see this sample up close at the store after Labor Day Weekend.

Scrapbook Hangover

I have finally recovered from Friday Night.  You see my house is known for "The House that Never Sleeps".  Over the past 7 years I've gotten the majority of my scrapbooking done on Friday nights.  I've been out of the groove for the past year, so this past Friday, my scrapping buddy, Cynthia came by and we talked, scrapped, talk, and scrapped until 3 am.  Saturday morning I was up by 10:30 am. Well by 6:00 pm, I think my kids were ready for ME to take a nap.  My husband came home to find the kids running amuck and me trying to sleep.  He so politely reminded me while I grumbled  and cleaned the kitchen that I was suffering from a scrapbook hangover!!! I've had many a Jack Daniels hangover, but this was a first.  I must say it was pretty funny...I'll have to call my scrapping buddy to see how she faired.

It's official we are bonafide Scrapaholics!

I Missed It!

Class Coordinates hosted their First Anniversary Crop in Georgia this past weekend.  I wanted to be there so bad, but couldn't (however, I was with them in spirit as I cropped too).  I love it when tons of African-American scrapbookers travel the highways just to celebrate, support and crop with other scrappers.  Here's a link to her photos Classy Coordinates Anniversary Crop .  I'm so proud of Tiare and her business...I look forward to each and everyone of her monthly kits.  One thing's for sure...I won't miss next year's crop!!

A New Day

Yippee the kids went back to school on Monday!  Poor Baby Joseph, doesn't know what to do without his sisters and brothers all day.  So I thought I'd show him what's it's like to be... well almost alone.
Hang out at Starbucks!  He's soooo cute.  This is the first time in his life we''ve been alone.

Don't Quit

Don't Quit is a poem my mother always sent to me when I was down in the dumps while I was in college.  I haven't been getting many pages down for my project, but last night I managed to get six pages done...complete with journaling.  So I'm psyched.  I just came back from my cousin's 16th Birthday party and her Mom (who has been watching me scrapbook for the past 6 years) made her a beautiful scrapbook of her past 16 years!!! I was so proud, it defintely reminded me to not quit and to continue to share scrapbooking with everyone.

Camera Play

I've been studying the photography of Master scrapbookers Tara W. & Cathy Z.  I read through their blogs and picked up quite a few tips, so while my family was  just sittin' around shootin the breeze, I decided to play around with my new (Nixon D70 digital) camera.  I changed the ISO to 200, auto setting and kept the flash from popping up and here's what I got.

New Beginnings

Okay so nobody showed up for A.C. Moore's first Open Scrapbook night, but Danielle and I were there and she put together the cutest birthday invitations for her daughter's upcoming Birthday party.  I laid out and mounted 14 pages of a gift album in under an hour's time!

Saturday morning I taught a class at A.C. Moore and 11 out of 13 people were NEW to Scrapbooking, most of them signed up for the class from the Gazette newspaper article, WOW!  The techniques they learned were a little advanced, but they managed to complete two pages and a distressed tag.

This class was a reminder of why I do what I do...introducing scrapbooking to the African-American community is a new beginning to what I hope will be a life-long tradition for many of them.

Back in the Swing

Well I'm back from Chicago, and I did manage to hang out with my cousins and see Oprah's studio and a good bit of downtown Chicago.  Chicago is beautiful...Lake Shore Drive...just awesome.  I learned alot of new tips from NoraLee at Provo Craft and got to try out the new die-cuts that she designed...my favorite is the file folder (you've got to have one)!   Don't forget that Friday night is open scrapbook night at A.C. Moore, pack light and I'll be teaching some distressing techniques at the Saturday morning class at A.C. Moore.

Chicago!

On Friday morning I'll be heading off to Chicago to teach scrapbooking classes this weekend.  I'm excited for a few reasons, (1) I'll get a much deserved break from homelife for a full 48 hours (2) I'm going to be able to sit down with my new Digital camera and try to figure out some things (3) I will get to hangout one evening with my cousins who I don't see that often (4) I'll be teaching, taking classes and I might get a page or two done! Oh, most importantly is that I may get to take a photo of HARPO Productions while I'm there.  For my xx birthday I wanted to go to the Oprah show, God Bless my sister, she tried everything to get tickets, well at least I can say I went to Chicago!!! Maybe I'll meet the doorman that greets her everyday or something.
