Six whole days in the mountains...no internet, no Nextel and no scrapbooking. My, My, My what were the Sanford's to do. Here's a collage of our first evening at our mountain escape. I told Jerin this would be the closest we would come to camping...a five bedroom house with two full kitchens, baths and cable...but in the mountains.
Okay, here is one way I tried to infuse a little culture into our trip. My Dad purchased a coconut at the local store. He opened it and made the kids drink the juice...you see what they know about coconut comes in a bag and is on top of Grandmother's favorite Coconut Creme Pie. They all gave it a try, the liquid and the meat. Then we discussed where coconut trees grow, what countries they are in and what recipes do we use coconut in. See it's not too hard to put a little ethnic scrapbooking in your day.
What is your experience with coconut?
darn that little guy is so CUTE!!!

I don't have a coconut memory, but I love the idea of taking the family to a cabin without today's ammenities. I think I might try it. CUTE kids.

What great pics. I am not sure I could have lasted that long without internet. My husband brings the laptop whenever we travel. Love the idea about the coconut.

I'm so glad you and your family had so much fun. Great pics! Great learning experience with the coconut. I don't have much experience with coconut other than in my Mother's recipes. LOL!

I don't understand the fascination with the juice or the jelly (eww)- i guess if you are in the jungle/on beach and extremely thirsty it can be a bit refreshing. Ron loves it.
Boy has Talisa's little one grown - he looks like a totally different child since i last saw him in, what February.
