BEWARE rambling entry.
Why is it when you are a kid, the time goes by so slowly, yet as an adult, the days slip by so fast...I have tons of stuff to blog about but can't seem to find consistent time to log the entries....ENOUGH
Geez...so much happened this week. The kids and I went to visit my folks and Grandmother in PA. I got to spend a few hours at the new scrapbook store back home and crop with the store owners and talk shop...that was REAL fun.
We had a spaghetti dinner at the local Catholic church, I'd passed by it a million times, but this was first time I actually set foot in it. My kids wanted to know why all the (caucasian) people knew me. I explained to them when I grew up there, I was a majorette (Featured Twirler to be exact) which was uncommon for a Black, so the whole town knew who I was, but I didn't know everyone in town.
The kids got to visit my Mom at work, she's a school nurse.
My Grandmother had been in the hospital the week before, so checking on her was the real reason behind our visit, but she's doing well. Tavien wasn't doing so well though.
My Dad and I met with the curators at the Coke & Coal Museum at Penn State Fayette Campus. The are hosting an African-American Coal Miners conference in March and I wanted to make sure that my family members were represented. So we will be pulling together what we can for that conference. In order to provide them with a list of coal miners from our little "patch" towns, we plan to scour the Census documents. If you are interested in getting started on researching your family history, RUSH over to Ancestry.com this invaluable service is FREE until Nov 30th.
As for the rest of the week, Leah stood in line with me so she could witness the voting process.
Jerin stressed us out the moring that her science fair and reading projects were due...but we all lived through it.
I got broadsided on the way home from a meeting on Thursday, no one was hurt...just have to deal with insurance frustrations.
My husband removed some trees from the backyard on his day off...a project that had been on the "To Do list" for years...so yeah that's done.
Finally...Friday night (scrapbook night) was the icing on the cake. My friend Cynthia and I started scrapbooking around 9 pm...we finally went to bed at 5:30 am this morning...what did I get done...I finished up a 70 page Wedding Album for my cousin! I'll post oics later...after I get a NAP!

I think the effort you are putting into making sure your family is represented is great. Love that you seem so centered and focused on what is most important.
