Folks think I probably stress over the holiday...not this one. My Dad made reservations, total bill came to $95.00 no food to prepare, no dishes to wash and no kitchen to clean, that was great. We drove to my folks house on Thanksgiving morning, took a little nap then off to a restaurant for dinner, visited with relatives, ate some real turkey fixins and SLAMMIN desserts and all was good.
Pam here's a funny for you. We get to the restaurant and Jonathan doesn't feel good, so I'm busting his chops that he better eat for the buffet we paid for and that there's no food at Memaw's house...he drops his whole plate on the floor. I force him to eat a piece of ham and mashed potatoes, then he sleeps on the table. Then Miss Leah is through with the food after her high falutent butt doesn't like the SHRIMP...so to her nothing was good. But my girl Jerin saved the day, she ate enough for the both of them.
Next Day we visited the cemetery and of course spent well over an hour and then had nerve to come back again in the evening...don't ask...my kids ask to go to the cemetery because we go to one on every trip...the details about that for another post. This is at my Grandmother's gravesite who died one year ago almost to the day. Image is blurry because it's actually video (that I don't know how to insert intotypepad).
We ate a picnic lunch one day at our local park...it's sure been spiffied up since I was a kid. That was a blast, the kids were itching to get in the water, but it was barely 55 degrees outside.
A REAL moment was us messing with the cows at the farm next to the cemetery. It was evening and they were headed to the barn, but when we approached them they stopped...wouldn't go on about their business. so for about 40 minutes we stood just watching each other...one cow was very affectionate...she kept licking all of the other cows, the kids thought that
was hilarious. My little city slickers.
Lastly I'll leave you with the view from the deck of a piece of investment property we were checking out (For my retiring aunt). Yep, these are the hills I grew up in the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania. Love the views...dislike the culture.
If I could be so bold...what do you dislike about the Penn culture?
