Sistah Retreat May 2007

The kids made it through the week with no t.v., I took them to the pet store to look at puppies on Monday night and they were closed...hopefully we'll get there some time over the weekend.

I spent the weekend in Atlanta at my first "Sistah Retreat" (there second)...It was fabulous, I see why it sold out on the first day...I think there's a wating list for the 3rd retreat in 2008.

Folks ask me all the time about local scrapbooking events, well... my girl Chela has made a nice listing so click here for all the Maryland Crops.

Here's the two group pics from the Sistah Retreat...three of us flew from Maryland!  What happens at the sistah retreat...stays at the sistah retreat!

I will tell you that there was a lot of singing and dancing going on and I learned about the website Young, Black and Fabulous.

What did I accomplish? Outside of some much needed sleep, I did complete a 6x6 Farewell Album for Ellyn, an 8x8 album for my Dad on the train ride we took back in December, 14 8x8 pages for the sistah swap and 14 rolodex cards...I also got half way through my 30 day "All About Me" album...which I finished last night...will post pics later.

Day four "NO T.V. Week"

The kids signed a pledge at school for a week of no television.  I'm so proud of them, they worked in the yard on day one, played outside on day two, My Dad taught them how to play "Bones" Day three and they decided to learn how to play Upwords all by themselves on Day four....shsh don't tell'em...if they make through the whole week, I'll take them to the pet store to LOOK at a puppy...shsh!

1. I coached a baton twirling team for over ten years...it's how my husband Jerry and I met.
2. I love the feel of little one's feet.
3. I love the rain.
4. I collect cameras (not intentionally, but I've got quite the collection as my daughter pointed out yesterday)
5. I absolutely LOVE my full-time job...(no kidding).
6. I love ethnic foods and textiles.
7. I have a sewing phobia.

Speed Scrapbooking Part 5

I really pulled out some old stuff when I made this layout...which goes to show that sometimes those old stickers may one day come in handy.

The apple stickers are Creative Memories and the red stitching are the very first rub-ons I put 2-3 years ago!  Border of this page reminds me of a chapter in Real Women Scrap book that talks about setting up boundaries in your life...something I am diligently working on this month.

Surfing the Web tonight

SO stressed, I vegged out on the web this evening...here's a reference to the concept of Ubuntu...also the name of my sister's non-profit, Ubuntu Village.

Speed Scrapbooking Part 4

Whew, spent a whirl wind weekend in Ft. Lauderdale at a company event and just getting settled in until I'm off to Atlanta in a little over two weeks for Sistah Retreat...see details at Scraps of Color.

How simple is this!  Used patterned paper (from another Classy Coordinates kit) and cut the number 3 with the Cricut machine.  "Joseph" embellishment, Joseph picked out at A.C. Moore, it was a self-adhesive sticker (too simple), words came from a carton of phrases by K & Company, eyelets...soft setting ones from Stampin' Up.

When you've had the hecticness of the past two weeks like I have, I'm thankful for speed scrapbooking...it brings me back down to earth.
