Sometimes people look at me with wonder (or maybe it’s the “ARE YOU CRAZY” look or “WHY?”) when I say I work full-time, have five kids and wrote a book. Really the secret to getting it all done is not work life balance, a housekeeper or tons of money…it’s technology.
I learned years ago, that the virtuous women of the Bible did a whole lot more than I do, but they usually had a slew of servants or lived in communities where women help women. Well I’ve learned that I really don’t live in such a society, so technology is my helper. My washing machine and dryer probably replace 2-3 Biblical servants, my groceries delivered on Tuesday substitute for a personal chef and my computers and brand spanking new iPhone replace a ton of people. I never ever thought I would be this high tech, but in order to get done what I need to do, I have to be more efficient.
Although I love edible apples, I am not a Mac fan, but I am going to give this iPhone a try. So far it has replaced the following items in my purse: my paper day-timer, mp3 player, camera and broadband card. Now I have everything I need to fill in those numerous hours I spend at the fieldhouse waiting for track and gymnastic practices to end.
My Verizon broadband card and new HP laptop computer has made me more productive because I no longer have to share a desktop at home with my kids!
