At work this past Wednesday, I attended a women's luncheon where out admission ticket was a family recipe. The recipes were then compiled into a mini-book along with our stories surrounding the submission. My submission was the Potato Candy that I'm looking forward to making on Christmas eve with my mother and children.
I really enjoyed hearing the stories, we laughed at a Filipino dish that required the milk of a "real" coconut, sticky rice and banana leaves, because as the woman was describing it she said it was simple to make...but it sounded so "Martha Stewart" with fresh ingredients that you wouldn't find in your local grocery store. In actuality, it is probably very easy to find those ingredients at a local Asian market here in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

funny, one look at this photo while i was going through your blog & noticed the filipino food instantly! LOL
i saw your profile featured on scrapbook.com while browsing through the scraproom gallery and immediately jumped on the link to this site & so glad i did! i'm enjoying your blog thoroughly... i think you've inspired me to follow through with blogging and finally get started!
